Health Care Integration
Colonial Behavioral Health has been working for the past several years to develop new ways of integrating mental and primary health care.
Several studies show that individuals are more likely to seek treatment for mental health concerns when mental health services are provided in medical facilities where individuals are already going, such as primary care physician offices. If an individual has to travel to another office, they are less likely to seek mental health care. Cultural stigmas also reduce the likelihood individuals will seek mental health care.
In an effort to make mental health services more accessible to all individuals, Colonial Behavioral Health collaborated with the Williamsburg Health Foundation and joined the Chronic Care Collaborative to provide behavioral health services at two local clinics. Currently, CBH provides case management and psychiatry services at Lackey Clinic and Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center.
Colonial Behavioral Health looks forward to exploring additional future opportunities for integrated care.
