Crisis Response Services

Crisis Response Services

Emergency Services

Emergency Services provides 24/7 rapid responses to any individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis, which can include a crisis assessment, intervention, and consultation. Emergency Services conducts screenings for psychiatric hospitalization and crisis stabilization.

When community alternatives are not appropriate, ES staff may initiate the issuance of temporary detention orders (TDO) for individuals in need of mandated psychiatric treatment in accordance with Virginia Statute 37.2-809.

Mobile Crisis Response

Mobile Crisis Response is a voluntary, in-person rapid response to the location of the individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Services are provided in community locations, such as schools, homes, places of employment or education, and other community settings. The purpose of the service is to de-escalate the crisis, prevent further escalation of symptoms, develop a plan to maintain safety, and connect the individual to appropriate resources and services in the community.

Mobile Crisis Response can be accessed by contacting the local regional call center at 757-656-7755 or by calling 988

Community Crisis Stabilization

Community-Based Crisis Stabilization services provide for short-term assessment, crisis intervention, and care coordination to individuals who have recently experienced a behavioral health crisis. Community Crisis Stabilization is a bridge service that supports an individual as they are making a transition between certain levels of care when there is a gap in availability of services.

To refer an individual to Community-Based Crisis Stabilization, please call the CBH 24/7 Crisis Services Line at 757-378-5555 during regular business hours.
